Prescott Radon is a local brand for radon testing and mitigation in Prescott and Yavapai County. We are not a contractor. We connect you with licensed and insured local professionals who do the testing and the repair work.
This page explains how that works, so you know what to expect before you call.
How it works
You call (928) 582-8914, and your call is connected to local radon testing and mitigation professionals. They explain the options for your home and answer your questions. After they look at the home, they give you a written quote.
Cost depends on the foundation type, the size of the home and its layout. That is why a quote comes after a look at the property, not before.
Why radon matters in Prescott
Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that forms when uranium in rock and soil breaks down. The Granite Dells granite just north of the city has an unusually high uranium content, according to the Arizona Geological Survey. The Survey also notes that tightly sealed, weather-tight homes on this rock can hold radon in.
But radon is not only a Dells issue. Any home can have it, whether it is a Victorian near downtown, a house in Yavapai Hills or Miller Valley, or a newer build off Willow Creek Road. Testing is the only way to know your level.
Where help is available
The service area covers Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt and the rest of Yavapai County. That includes homes with private wells, which are tested for radon in water separately from the air.
Choosing a professional
Arizona does not run a state radon certification program. EPA recommends hiring a nationally certified radon professional, through the National Radon Proficiency Program or the National Radon Safety Board. It is reasonable to ask any professional about their credentials before you agree to work.
Buying or selling a home? A radon test is often part of the inspection period. A result from a previous owner may not reflect today's conditions, especially after renovations.
If you are ready to talk it through, call (928) 582-8914 and ask about testing or mitigation for your home.
